My “Oh, shut up!” moment with Tyra Banks
Sooooo . . . admittedly, that was a from-me-on-the-couch-to-Tyra-on-the-TV moment. But still. Tyra majorly shocked me.
Any fans of America’s Next Top Model? I am, and my best friend Gwen and I used to plan our Wednesday evenings around it (NOT as pathetic as that sounds, and especially not after one of the roommates got a Tivo).
We actually hated all the drama that went on - why must girls be so crazy!? - and Tivo seriously helped us out, because all we really wanted to see were the amazing photoshoot concepts, the sick locations, and the crazy fab clothes, hair, and makeup. But as Gwen stands 5′4″ to 5′5″ and I stand a small 5′3″, our place in Top Model world was always going to be from the spectator’s couch. That picture up there, btw, is us having fun and being a little silly in one of our “Gwachel” photo shoots.
But just now - and I do mean JUST now - Tyra announced that she is having casting calls for all Top Model wannabes 5′7″ and UNDER.
BIG big news (hence all the caps!).
Now I’m not claiming to be omigod gorgeous, but what girl worth her stilletos DOESN’T want to give modeling a shot? I know how to smile with my eyes. And ahhh, to live the glam life. . .
I know it’s hard work, but, I don’t know, I’m thinking of giving it a shot . . . why not? It’s a chance to break into the world of all those crazy tall and thin gazelles, and take a piece of the pie.
